Anyway moving on..
Today I had a fasting blood test for my cholesterol, I've not had one for over a year and thought I'd ask my GP for another. Last year my serum cholesterol level was 7, the ratio was 6.4, I can't remember what the hdl was but I know it wasn't brilliant. So I popped to my GP to ask for another test, on speaking to the Dr he told me that I was high risk and should be on meds. Last year I was not high risk, this year I am...huh!!!! I told the GP that and he said because of my family history (dad died at 50 something of heart attack (he also had angina, high cholesterol runs in the family) I am classed as high risk. I asked if I could still have a blood test purely to see if my diet and exercise has helped. Anyway I was given a blood form and had my fasting blood test today, on speaking to the phlebotomist I told her that i was supposedly high risk and she offered a to give me a risk assessment. Well to my surprise the outcome said that my heart was that of a 58 year old and I was well and truly surprised and shocked at this outcome. Obviously this result is only a guide and there maybe some sceptics who think it's a load of rubbish, but it's made me think a little differently. My previous result I confess I was a little blaze about because, I run loads, eat really well and thought I was fine and that my next result maybe high but i look after myself and it will be fine. Now I'm thinking s**t, a heart of a 58 year old, that's scary and perhaps meds may be the only resolution. For my heart to be that of someone my age, my ratio needs to come down to 3. Now I'm not sure if i can do that without meds, I will have to wait for the results now and see where I am at. This certainly has me a little worried to say the least..
I am still healthy eating with a slight change in the diet, my husband read an article which my FIL saved us from the Daily Mail Paper. Basically my husband is losing weight and I've stopped losing weight , one big difference is that I eat rice for Lunch and he doesn't. He think that after reading the article the reason that I've stopped losing is because the amount of carbs I'm consuming, so I'm not having so many carbs and will see on Tuesday if this has helped. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2459915/Could-low-fat-diet-make-EVEN-FATTER-As-experts-question-conventional-wisdom-diets-extraordinary-results-mans-experiment.html
